Springtime means we can all come out from under fleece blankets and fluffy PJs we’ve been cosying up in and go outside and smell the flowers (and show off a fresh face beat!). So get your makeup brushes ready because here are five trend predictions for spring/summer that will make a statement the moment you step out.
Looking for inspiration for fresh spring/summer makeup looks? Here are five that are trending this season.
Look #1 / Bold Blush
This trend is perfect for the “no makeup” makeup queens and works well for a daytime vibe or a chill day out. And since you only need two products, it’s easy to achieve and touch up on the go.
What You Need
- Foundation or tinted moisturiser
- Blush (I used MAC Cosmetics Powder Blush in “Format”)
- Tinted lip balm (I used the swiitchbeauty #MonoTint)
Step 1: After applying a light layer of foundation or tinted moisturiser, apply blush to the apples of your cheeks in an upward sweeping motion.
Step 2: Apply a light layer of blush to your eyelids and lower lash line to achieve a lightly tinted and cohesive look.
Step 3: Apply a tinted balm to your lips and you’re ready to go!
Look #2 / Winged Liner
Winged liner isn’t what it used to be! Wear this look and stand out in the crowd this summer at concerts, festivals or rooftop parties. This bold, editorial and alluring look is sure to be a seasonal fave.
What You Need
- Precision makeup brush (such as the Bobbi Brown Ultra Precise Eye Liner Brush)
- White gel or liquid eyeliner (I used the Belani Beauty Pastel Liner in “Hard White”)
Step 1: Dip your precision brush in water then dip it into the graphic liner pot and mix until pasty.
Step 2: Starting in the upper inner corner of your eye draw a line to the outer corner of your eyebrow. Connect the line down to the outer corner of your eye.
Step 3: Draw the lower half of the butterfly wing starting at the outer corner of your eye and going down. Step 4: You now have the outline of the butterfly wings. Draw the lines to fill in the outline of the wings. Voilà!
Look #3 / Split Liner
We’re playing around with shapes, space and the natural silhouette of the eye with this look. Whether you fill in the spaces or leave them blank, this graphic liner look is minimal yet interesting and adds a fun pop of colour to your ‘fit.
What You Need
- Precision makeup brush (such as the Bobbi Brown Ultra Precise Eye Liner Brush)
- Pink gel or liquid liner (I used the Belani Beauty Pastel Liner in “Pink Matter”)
Step 1: Dip your precision brush in water then dip it into the graphic liner pot and mix until pasty.
Step 2: Starting in the inner corner of your eye, draw a curved line that stops at the centre of your eyelid above your crease line. Then draw a slightly diagonal line down to connect the curved line to the lash line.
Step 3: With a new colour, draw another line starting at your lash line going upward towards your brow bone.
Step 4: Draw another line from the outer corner of your eyelid upwards in a cat-eye shape towards the outer part of your brow bone and connect the two lines.

Look #4 / Summer Daze
Not scared of bold colours and looking for a cute beauty look to wear to a picnic or a Saturday market? This cute floral eyeshadow is easier than it looks and is perfect for the spring/summer season.
What You Need
- Precision makeup brush (such as the Bobbi Brown Ultra Precise Eye Liner Brush)
- Yellow eyeshadow (like the shade “Summer” in the Hermosa Flor Colour Bomb Eyeshadow Palette)
- White gel or liquid eyeliner (I used the Belani Beauty Pastel Liner in “Hard White”)
- Black liquid eyeliner (I used the Essence Designer Liquid Ink Eyeliner)
Step 1: Apply the yellow eyeshadow to your eyelids, starting at the bottom and blending upwards to diffuse the colour.
Step 2: Dip your precision brush in water, then dip it into the graphic liner pot and then paint flower petals on your eyelids.
Step 3: Once the white liner is dry, put a small dot of black liner in the middle to complete each flower. So cute!
Look #5 / Pearly Whites
Give off serious “mysterious cool girl” energy while bar hopping or dancing under the strobe lights with this dark and sultry look. Because a dark lip and eye combination are in this season.
What You Need
- Black false lashes (such as the Essence Lash Like a Boss False Lashes)
- Pearl stickers or nail decals (like these Self-Adhesive Pearls)
Step 1: Remove the lash glue from the packaging and apply a thin coat to your lashes. Wait for a few and then apply them carefully along your upper lash line.
Step 2: Remove the pearls from the packaging and apply them wherever you want to on your face to get the desired effect.
Step 3: If your pearls aren’t stickers, use your lash glue to safely adhere them to your face for this super trendy face beat.
